Birthday Bag

By Amy

I made this bag for my Niece, she loves pink and I thought that she would love to have something a little more grown up like a purse. I used a pattern from Simplicity 0387, a really simple bag to do!

Since she is moving up to Young Women's in our Church I made this to go with her purse. It will hold her Personal Progress book, Journal, a pen & Strength for Youth Pamphlet. I got the idea from this blog http://chocolateonmycranium.blogspot.com/2012/01/young-women-personal-progress-book.html

I love how simple and elegant it ends up looking!

And of course here is the whole gift together. I'm pretty excited to give it to her.

Carboard Pirate Ship

What I made for my Boys for Christmas

I looked at a number of site that had made carboard pirate ships. But I didn't see anything I liked. So I just started and this is what I came up with. Let me tell that my boys loved it and they wish it was still around but they ship wreck it about everyday so the it broke in a few weeks.
The mast was made from Carboard tubes that you put posters in. I ended up using 3 of them for the main one and a tube and a half for the angled pole. I used 2 curtain rods to tie the sails to we made holes in the mast to punch the rods through to hold them on better.

One carboard tube cut in half to make 2 cannons that my boys could push toys through. My little one ended up sitting there and sticking both his hands through.

The steering wheel I put on the back of the boat so there was still room to play inside the boat. I found a huge plastic screw in my supplies that had a plastic wing nut that came with it. I helped hold the wheel on and also had enough give to spin around.

Instead of stocking I made these Carboard Treasure boxes that held most of there presents and snacks. These were really easy to make. http://www.ikatbag.com/2012/05/how-to-make-cardboard-stage-and-own.html
Here are a couple of the links I looked at before beginning my project. My boys just love everything about Christmas. Have Fun Crafting!

Valentines Day Wreath

Valentines Day Wreath By Amy

I came across this craft project searching through  http://pinterest.com/ I thought, hey I could make that. So here is the finished product hanging on my front door. This is actually my first Valentines craft I have ever done for myself, and let me say I love it. Here is the link for the original product that cost around 36 dollars if you bought it form the site. http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/primitiveangelcountrystore/product/handmade_8_heart_wreath

I made it with what I had at home. This is the back of the wreath so that you know how I put it together and you can make one of you own. Have fun crafting!

Ahhh! by Liz

So the other day I sat down to eat lunch at the kitchen table with my son.  I was halfway through my meal when I looked up and saw this...

Ahhh!  Like many people, I am not a fan of spiders in my house.  So, of course, I choke on my food and scoot away from the table.  After a minute I dare to look at it more closely.

Hahaha, it was a shrivelled up leaf or stem of something.  Boy did I feel foolish and the surprised look on my son's face just made me laugh at myself.

First Sewing Project for a Beginner by Liz

My son is a messy eater, like most kids, so I made him some bibs to help keep him in his clothes longer.  Bibs are a simple sewing project you can do to help you learn how to sew.  I am a beginner sewer and these were simple enough.  The hardest part is the bias tape if you choose to use it.  Click here for a website for these free bib patterns and more that are simple to do.  All of the bibs I made are on that site.  Below are some pictures of the ones I did.

I like this bib best since it covers more area and stays in place.
